Izzy Weis. Fine Art.

The questioning of what our society tells us is beautiful is a constant theme in my work. Through cameraless photography combined with painting techniques, I have explored the beauty I find in the decaying process. My work is process-led, starting with the swabbing of surfaces, which I allow to bloom into miniature compositions of feathery circular life forms. Using photographic processes I create photograms from my findings and translate these into gestural, enigmatic chemical paintings. The notion of restriction is embedded in my work, and with this comes the breaking of a barrier and the transference of matter. Heavily influenced by the thoughts of Wabi Sabi, my work captures beauty in the incomplete, imperfect and mundane.
